I was recently visiting a relative who is 80 years old and she lives a retirement home. Out of the blue she said that when they put music on at the retirement center that everyone there livens up. They all sing along to the old songs and think about memories that the music is triggering. "There's something about music", she said.
So not only are there playlists, but they are fully embeddable (no more giant list of individual players). Here are some of my favorite songs on bmuze right now:
You can now download playlists and play them in your favorite media player. I've tested it with Windows Media Player and iTunes, and I'm reasonably sure most others should work as well. No software to install, just click the 'Download Playlist' link below most of the online playlists.
Here's a screenshot of me listening to bMuze via iTunes
You may now edit and delete tracks in playlists, and it has been added to the top level navigation. I still have some work to do with other settings, like allowing users to make playlists private (right now they are all public), deleting playlists entirely, and editing descriptions. Also, playlists will soon be tracked separately from the tracks themselves, so the best ones get the most promotion.
It's far from feature complete, but you can now create, share, and browse playlists from songs uploaded to bmuze.com. I decided to migrate it from our test servers to the live ones unfinished, since even at this point they are quite useful. Please report bugs if you see them (i fixed a ton of IE display related bugs the last several days).
For those of you that have facebook accounts, you can now add bmuze as an application. Still free and full features--http://apps.facebook.com/bmuzeonline
This is a screenshot of my top 40 songs in Itunes sorted by "most played". I have been tracking the amount of plays in my Ipod or in Itunes for the last 3 years and I find the results to be fascinating.
Man, yo-yo skillz have certainly changed since I was a kid with a Duncan Imperial doing "Rock the Cradle" (of love). Check out the infamous Doctor Popular at work in sync with a great Portishead cover.
i've done some tests, and everything sounds good, so we are kicking off the recording for our new album tonight.
of course there are never enough channels, mics, headphones, etc. but I am still really excited. heather and I already laid down the scratch tracks we will be playing to, and if all goes well we should get the majority of four songs on disc tonight. won't have the wurlitzer yet, but that will come soon.
fresh out of the oven. is there a better smell in all the world than fresh baked bread? To give some perspective, each loaf is about the size of a small football and weighs just under a pound.
